Suitable immigration statuses

REACHE requires applicants to live in the United Kingdom under a protected status such as:

• Asylum Seeker
• Refugee
• Home Office programmes such as ARAP and Homes for Ukraine
• Evacuated British nationals
• Discretionary Leave
• Humanitarian Protection
• Family reunion / refugee spouse visa

Please contact REACHE's admissions office here if your asylum status does not appear on this list.

Professional requirements

The REACHE programme is designed for doctors and nurses. We do not currently provide a programme for biomedical scientists, dentists, paramedics, pharmacists, or other healthcare professionals.

REACHE requires applicants to have practised in their profession within the last 10 years.

Medical qualifications

To join REACHE, applicants must be awarded a Primary Medical Qualification (PMQ) by an institution which is recognised by the relevant council. The GMC has published guidance about acceptable overseas qualifications for doctors here.

English language requirements

As REACHE provides specialised support for the OET exam, we strongly recommend having English language skills equivalent to:

• ESOL Skills for Life Level 1 award
• OET C+ in all skills
• IELTS band 6.5 in all skills

You may be invited to an assessment of your grammar, reading, and writing skills during your application. This test takes about 100 minutes to complete.

Location

REACHE holds in-person teaching sessions at Salford Royal Hospital in Greater Manchester. We hold online sessions for OET study, but our clinical sessions are held in person. For information on getting to the REACHE centre by public transport, please see our guide.
